The Galaxy S (GT-I9000) has a sexy 4.0-inch Super AMOLED screen (800 x 480) and is powered by a 1GHz Application processor, both of which suggest a clear slant towards media-rich and high-definition content.
The Galaxy S also includes core features such as Google’s Android mobile operating system (v2.1), high-speed 3G connectivity, a touch-screen user interface, a solid 5.0 mega-pixel camera, a VGA Video Telephony camera, HD video recording at 720p and 30fps, Wi-Fi (b/g/n), data storage choices of 8GB or 16GB, and data expansion up to 32GBs via an external microSD slot.
While it may not be 4G, other contributing aspects packed into the device include Samsung’s mobile Digital Natural Image engine (mDNIe) for enhanced photos, videos and eBooks, A-GPS, USB 2.0, Bluetooth 3.0, access to the Android Market, the Social Hub for quickfire social networking, and a wealth of Google services such as Google Search, Gmail and Google Maps.
The Galaxy S smartphone from Samsung Electronics will be available in Europe, North America, Latin America, Australia and Asia in the very near future. Samsung has not yet offered up concrete prices or carrier info, but we’ll let you know when it does.
